A little creative fun

With December 1st only a few short days away, I felt the need to stop procrastinating and get to work on some very much needed letters from Santa to my boys. I'm not sure what it is about this time of year that only good behaviour can be prompted with threats of "Naughty List" and the "Big Guy", but it was needed. I (with the help of Pinterest) have brought the Santa in our house to a whole new level this year. first I used "Official" Santa letterhead and created letters for each boy telling them why Santa and the elves are worried they won't stay on the Nice list this year and then outlined how they can make sure Santa will visit them again this year.

I then sat down to create authentique envelopes to seal the deal. I used word to ensure I have the matching calligraphy font and then got to work on the postage area. Using a postage die, ink and stamps I created my Santa stamp. I even put some distress stickles over Santa's face to make him sparkle and then added a red post paid and mailed stamp over the entire stamp and envelope to give it the look it had come from the north pole.

I hope the boys have as much fun receiving their letters as I did creating them. We have a Christmas card event coming up this Saturday, come by and say hi and maybe create something too. Space is still available.

Christmas with PINK!

Good Morning Scrapbook Lounge Fans!
If you are like me and have a daughter, there is nothing more frustrating than having beautiful photos of your little one playing in the snow in their pink snowsuit and then not being able to find a stitch of paper that you can use. Most manufacturers tend to create their winter paper around Christmas, thus leaving us with Green and Red papers.....Until now.....Thanks you Crate Paper who created a beautiful collection of Winter paper with little girls in mind. The collection also has stitched die cuts and photo overlays. You won't want to miss out on getting these.....

November Kid's classes

After Thursday it will start to look a lot like Christmas. And with that also comes some great kid's crafts for the month of November. Check out our upcoming scheduled crafts.

While the kids are occupied you can check out the great toy selection at Looplaloo and even get the kids to fill out the Christmas wish list while you are here. Its a great idea for Grandparents, and other relatives to know exactly what your child may want for Christmas this year.

What's Happening this week at the Scrapbook Lounge

Its been a bit since my last post. We still have space available in our upcoming PanPastel Layout class on Tuesday October 29th. This class is an introduction to PanPastels and also makes the most of your screens and stamps. Cost is $25.00 and all supplies are included.

We are starting to gear up for the holiday shopping here at the Scrapbook Lounge. This includes all your projects for gift giving and card making for the holidays. To make things easier, we have just received a supply of new dies from Couture Creations. These intricut dies come complete with a magnetic sheet for easy storage.

Intoducing Luminarte

While at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival, we learned of a great new product by Dreaming in Color from the very talented Karen Ellis. I am happy to announce that we now have 35 of the Silks Pigment Acrylic Glazes in stock. These are brilliant shimmering semi-gloss acrylic glazes for paper wood, fabric and more.

With the Silks, we also received Artist Pigment Primary Elements to allow you to create your own paint with these pure ground color and minerals that will refract light.

We have also been working hard on our November classes which are all about Mixed Media as we enter the "getting ready for Christmas" season. Stay tuned for more information.

November Kids Crafts Sneak Peek

Hi Scrapbook Lounge Fans. We are working on our November crafts and classes and thought it would be nice to share what to look forward to. We will be kicking off Christmas crafts with our Annual Christmas Wish list craft for Looplaloo. First we will kick off November with a water color painting of poppies in honor of Remembrance Day using Lindy's Shimmer Products.

Technique Tuesday Classes

It is time to add to arsenal of techniques we have and learn something new or perhaps just tweak your existing skills. There will be 2 classes in October with focus being on techniques using screens and different mediums.

Creating backgrounds

In this class, Kim will make the most of your screens and other textures to create a beautiful background for a single photo layout.

Class - Tuesday October 15th at 7pm

Introduction to PanPastels

In this class, Kim will introduce you to the wonderful world of PanPastels and how they are a perfect scrapbook medium. We'll be discussing how PanPastels can be used as accents, painted through stencils and layered to create some new depth on your pages.
